Vienna Sleep International Hotel in Shenzhen feels dated, and the room itself is very basic. Although it comes with a massage chair, it has clearly been heavily used. As we are not fans of massage chairs, a proper couch would have been a more practical and comfortable option. The room is equipped with a small kettle, but there was no coffee powder provided—only Chinese tea. On the second day, we realised there was a coffee machine in the lobby; however, there was no milk available, so only black coffee could be made.
The air-conditioning system is adjustable, but it does not blow warm air. When the weather turned particularly cold on one of the nights, we had to request a portable heater, which was inconvenient. In terms of basic room amenities, there is no ironing board, no refrigerator, and no safe deposit box. The bathroom is also minimally equipped, with no face towels and no body lotion provided—only two hand towels and two bath towels.
Breakfast at the hotel is very basic, with limited variety. The “gym” is not a proper enclosed room but is instead located in an "open" area. It contains only basic equipment, such as a treadmill and a stationary bicycle, which is far from what one would expect of a standard hotel gym.
We arranged for the free airport transfer, but guests should be aware that the driver only speaks Mandarin. This could be challenging for non-Chinese speakers. The hotel is approximately 3 km away, making it fairly close to the airport. The nearest metro station (Hourui - Line 1) is about 800 metres away and is within walking distance.
We asked for late checkout and was given till 2 pm. Overall, this hotel offers a very no-frills stay. While the location is relatively convenient, the facilities and amenities would benefit greatly from upgrades and better attention to guest comfort.
